Fort Collins, CO–The Kids at Heart foster respite organization is seeking board members to serve in support of Northern Colorado foster care.
Kids at Heart is a respite provider for foster, adoptive and kinship families in Northern Colorado. For over 10 years the organization has supported families through their signature Fundango program. This unique event provides families with 4 hours of respite on two Saturdays per month while kids, newborn to 18 years of age, engage in meaningful activities. Staples of Fundangos are art, STEM, gym time and dinner. During the summer, Kids at Heart provides single and multi-day camps for kids to further develop their interpersonal, problem solving and life skills.
The mission of Kids at Heart is to support foster families through respite and support services. Many foster parents cannot bring their children to typical day care centers due to specific behaviors and the cost of services. Kids at Heart’s staff are trained to manage occasional unique behaviors due to trauma endured by children who are removed from their family. While in the care of Kids at Heart staff, parents know their kids are in a safe place while they a few hours of rest time, run errands or enjoy a date night.
Kids at Heart is seeking caring, effective and engaged board members in the foster care cause and community within Northern Colorado. Board members serve for a three year initial term. Each board director is required to attend most meetings, participate in discussion and contribute to the overall vision of the organization. Board composition is a mix of foster parents and community members who care about foster care. More information is available here.
Interested potential board members are encouraged to contact Scott Soldat-Valenzuela, Executive Director, at scott@kidsatheartco.org for more information.
